Bodyworx VBS - August 3-7

We are now putting together the leadership team for this year's VBS program. If you would like to help out please contact Joe Burgess. We are also needing food and other donations to make this program a success. The specific items needed will be posted in early July (or sooner).

Awana Award Ceremony - May 19th

This is the final night of our 2008-09 Awana year and we have a lot planned. The clubbers were busy this year, and we want you to join in celebrating their accomplishments. The bus will not run on that night as we want the whole family to attend. The ceremony will be followed by a cookie reception.

Closing in on the end of our Awana year and a lot is happening

Our Award Ceremony is now less than one month away, and there is a lot to do and a lot still to happen. Any clubbers who want to complete their book before the end of the year should sit down and figure out what still needs to be done.

Tuesday, April 21st is inside out night. Scripture tells us that we are to live our lives in such a way that the world sees the goodness of God through us (Luke 6:45). So, as clubbers wear their clothes inside out we are to remember that this is also how we are to live our lives.

Next Saturday, Apri. 25th, is Awana Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It includes lunch and a whole lot of fun.

Then, on Tuesday April 28th we will have out Drive-In Movie night again complete with popcorn. Get that car built out of cardboard or something suitable and bring it to Awana. This theme night is for the Sparkies and T&T'ers. But there will be popcorn for all!!

On May 5th we will have a mexican themed night with "You're Nacho Own." Come early as we will be se4rving nachos from 5:30 p.m. to 6:10 p.m. We really cannot extend past that time as we have to get cleaned up and ready for Awana. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 we are reminded that as Christians we are not our own owners, we have been bought with the blood of Christ and so belong to Him. As such we are to glorify God in our bodies.

Parents -- don't forget to put May 19th on your calendars. This is our awards night for the year and you will not want to miss celebrating all that the children have accomplished!!

Take It To The Cross Night

Tuesday, April 7th, is the Awana night before Easter. On that night we are asking all clubbers to bring a prayer request or praise with them to the meeting. All of these prayers will be posted to a cross in the auditorium. It is only through Jesus Chris, the one and only Son of God who accomplished our salvation through His death, burial and resurrection that we can have access to God the Father. As we celebrate Easter we are celebrating this new life as we remember His victory over sin and death for all who would believe and call on Him.

Vacation Bible School - Bodyworx (August 3rd - 7th)

Playing with the calendar for the summer can always be a challenge. In trying to balance personal and other calendars we have settled on a date for Vacation Bible School which is August 3rd - 7th and the theme this year is "Bodyworx." As the name might suggest it has to do with comparing how our own bodies work with that of a spiritual body. Just as we might succomb to an illness and need treatment we have all succumb to the ravages of sin and need healing. We will be taking a look throughout the week at various aspects of spiritual fitness and health. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer please contact Joe Burgess at the church office.

When we talk about our true color we should remember that as Christians we are to live our lives in such a way that the world will see Christ in us and God adn is so doing gloridy God (Matthew 5:16).

Awana cancelled tonight

The last hour has seen a wide swing in weather conditions. In light of the fact that a number of our leaders and clubbers live outside of town we chose to err on the side of safety and cancel the club for tonight. Stay home, stay warm, and maybe do some handbook time. Remember, February is double-double month. Completing sections with your parents and then your leader can turn one Awana buck into four.

Waiting until 2:00 p.m. to decide

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Jackson, Josephine, Siskiyou, Curry and Douglas counties.

The Advisory will start at this afternoon and continue until 4 PM Wednesday. Snow and rain will fall in the region, with snow levels as low as the valley floor.

The afternoon likely brings a mix of rain and snow, and expect snow to again fall overnight as temperatures get quite cold.

The mountains are expecting 6-12" of snow before all is said and done.

Watch out for icy roads and slippery conditions.

We normally would make the call about Awana by 1 p.m. At this time it is snowing at Crossroads, but not sticking. We will wait until 2 p.m. to make a decision about tonight's Awana club.

Upcoming Awana Theme Nights

Our calendar is updated to reflect upcoming theme nights. Just click on the calendar link to the right. The next theme night is February 24th with Show Your True Color as the theme. Each clubber and leader is encouraged to dress in the color of his or her team. Clubbers are rewarded with an Awana buck each time they participate in a theme night.

As a reminder, February is Double-Double month. Every section that each clubbers gets signed off by a leader earns two Awana bucks (double). For each section that the clubber comes prepared to get signed off with a parent initial next to that section, the clubber will earn four Awana bucks (double-double). The clubber must pass teh section with his or her leader in order to earn the Awana bucks. Parents are not permitted to sign off the section.

Our next Store Night is February 17th.

Seing Double in February at AWANA

During the month of February we are having a push to encourage clubbers to complete their sections. For every section the clubber completes for their leader the clubber will receive TWO (double) Awana bucks for store night. AND, if the clubber shows his or her parents that he or she knows the section, and the parent initials next to where the leader signs, THEN the clubber will receive FOUR (double-double) Awana bucks. We've jsut passed the half-way point and we want to see the clubbers come on strong in the second half!!
